World number seven Eugenie Bouchard booked her place in the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open in China this afternoon courtesy of a 6-2 6-3 victory over Alison Riske.
Service games were traded early on during the first set, but Canada's Bouchard eventually took control midway through thanks to two breaks of Riske's serve, which allowed her to take a one-set lead in 37 minutes.
The Wimbledon finalist continued that domination in the second set and despite a late break of her serve by her American opponent, she was able to win through in one hour and 20 minutes.
She will now face France's Alize Cornet for a place in the final four of the competition.
