Juan Martin del Potro has advanced into the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open after claiming a 2-6 4-6 victory over Marin Cilic.
The Argentina pro stormed through the first set, preventing his Croatian opponent from making an impact in the early stages of the contest.
While Cilic managed to get two games on the board, the number 10 seed eased through his service matches and claimed enough breaks to snatch the lead in Madrid.
The second set was a tighter affair, with each game going by the way of serve until Del Potro found the breakthrough on the blue clay court.
The 23-year-old will face Alexandr Dolgopolov in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
