Kyle Edmund has recorded a straight-sets victory over Lucas Pouille to progress through to the third round of the Rome Masters.
The British number one has looked at home on the clay in recent weeks and a 6-2 7-6 triumph over the 16th seed has set up a mouthwatering showdown with Alexander Zverev.
Edmund failed to win a set against Pouille on the same surface at the Davis Cup last year, but the 23-year-old was superb in taking the opening set with minimal fuss.
Pouille improved during the second and after coming through a lengthy service game, the Frenchman set up his first break point of the contest only to see it go begging.
The set would be decided by a tie-break and after Edmund opened up a 5-1 advantage, the world number 19 swiftly secured the win in 94 minutes.
