Dan Evans has defeated Michael Berrer in Zagreb to reach the quarter-finals of an ATP Tour event for the first time.
The 23-year-old, who lost in the final round of qualifying before being handed a spot in the main draw as a lucky loser, fought from behind to record a 1-6 6-1 7-6 victory.
Evans failed to make Great Britain's Davis Cup squad for their trip to San Diego to face USA, but the world number 147 has responded in the best possible way as he attempts to break into the top 100 in the ATP Tour World Rankings.
Berrer dominated the opening set where he allowed Evans a total of just six points, but the Birmingham-based player fired back with two breaks of serve in the second set.
Evans missed three opportunities to break again in the decider, but he prevailed 7-4 in the resulting tie-break to move through to a last-eight match with either Philipp Kohlschreiber or Andrey Golubev.
