Ana Ivanovic is out of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart after a first-round straight-sets defeat at the hands of Caroline Garcia.
Garcia recently knocked Ivanovic out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, but the world number six looked set to gain revenge when she brought up three points for the opening set in the tie-break.
However, Garcia ran off eight points in a row to take the one-set lead and an immediate break of serve in the second.
Trying to stay in the match at 5-3, Ivanovic double-faulted to bring up match point for Garcia, but the Serbian was able to keep the match alive.
The world number 29 managed to hold her nerve and serve out to set up a second-round clash with Catrina Witthoeft.
