Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber booked his place in round two of the Qatar Open this afternoon thanks to a 7-6 6-2 victory over Pablo Andujar.
Neither player was able to make a decisive impact during the opening set, which resulted in a tie-break being required to determine a victor.
That was equally tight, but Kohlschreiber eventually won through 9-7.
It proved to be the turning point of the match, as Kohlschreiber broke his Spanish opponent on two occasions during the next set to seal his slot in the second round.
