Britain's Johanna Konta has succumbed to a heavy 6-1 6-4 defeat against Coco Vandeweghe in the second round of the Aegon Classic in Birmingham.
The 25-year-old American saw off the first set in just 24 minutes, nearly condemning her opponent to a 6-0 pummelling, although Konta managed to claw a game back.
The world number seven looked better in the second set, with her first serve coming good at last at 6-1 1-2, and Vandeweghe's game starting to suffer from errors.
However, it was not long before Vandeweghe broke to take advantage and cruised to an ultimately comfortable win.
Konta will now turn her attentions to the Aegon International in Eastbourne next week ahead of Wimbledon, while Vandeweghe faces Spaniard Garbine Muguruza for a place in the semi-finals.
