Petra Kvitova has advanced through to round three of the China Open courtesy of a straight-sets victory over Peng Shuai.
The world number three prevailed 6-3 6-4 at the National Tennis Centre in a time of one hour and seven minutes this morning.
A loss of serve in the second game failed to set Kvitova back, and she managed to reply with two breaks of serve to eventually take the first set.
The second set was equally straightforward for the Czech pro, taking advantage of Peng's two losses of serve to edge out her opponent to progress in Beijing.
Kvitova will now face Venus Williams in the next round.
