Petra Kvitova has progressed to the last 32 at Indian Wells after beating compatriot Barbora Strycova in straight sets.
The world number three raced out to a four-game lead after breaking her opponent twice. However, she was denied a clean sweep when her fellow Czech capitalised on her one break point of the set to secure her first game of the night.
Kvitova responded in kind before serving to go ahead in the match.
Strycova twice held serve to begin the second set before breaking the favourite to take a two-game lead.
However, the 22-year-old responded by then breaking her opponent three times as she ran off five consecutive games to seal the match.
