Andy Murray has secured his first clay-court title by winning the Munich Open with a hard-fought 7-6[4] 5-7 7-6[4] victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber.
It was a tight affair between the two competitors in the first set as games went by the way of serve.
Not one break point was created during normal play and a tie-break, which was won 7-4 by Murray, was needed to separate the players.
It was a more contested second set as Murray fought to save two break points, and Kohlschreiber eventually managed to break his opponent, but the Scotsman fought back to snatch his serve.
The two-time Grand Slam champion went on to relinquish three break points and lost serve again as his German opponent levelled on sets.
The deciding set was similar to the first as games went by the way of serve, which resulted in another tie-break, and despite losing serve, Murray was able to break back twice to seal victory.
