Spain's Rafael Nadal defeated his compatriot Albert Ramos 7-6 6-4 to reach the third round of the Barcelona Open this afternoon.
The world number one was forced into a tie-breaker after an evenly contested first set, which he claimed 7-2.
Ramos provided similar resistance during the second set and it appeared that another breaker was going to be required.
However, with the score 5-4 in his favour, Nadal broke crucially to book his place in the next round in just 60 seconds shy of two hours.
He will now take on Croatia's Ivan Dodig for a slot in the quarter-finals.
