Agnieszka Radwanska has reached the semi-finals of the Madrid Open following a battling 6-4 4-6 6-4 victory over Caroline Garcia.
Radwanska took the edge in the first set by going a break up from Garcia's second service game, but the French pro bounced back instantly with a break of her own.
Both players held their serves well from that point on until a crucial game swung in Radwanska's favour as she broke Garcia in the final game after returning to deuce six times.
The Polish player went on to clinch the set, but it was a tight contest in the second as both players secured back-to-back breaks to keep proceedings level.
However, Garcia was able to do just enough to grab two vital break points and force the match into a third and deciding set.
It was a disappointing start for Garcia as she lost her opening service game and failed to recover as Radwanska took control of the court.
The Pole pro managed to see out the set and progress into the next round.
