Tomas Berdych has come from a set down to beat Jerzy Janowicz in the quarter-finals of the Rotterdam Open with a (9)6-7 6-2 6-4 win on Friday afternoon.
It started well for the Czech Republic player, who took his first two service games comfortably but he was then forced to save two break point in the fifth.
The decisive break in the opening set came on his next game, with Janowicz taking it to 15. However, Berdych broke back with the Pole serving for the set and took it to a tie-break. Berdych was 4-1 up but managed to lose the breaker 11-9 in an opening set that lasted well over an hour.
Berdych regrouped well to break with ease twice in the second set to wrap it up 6-2 in just half-an-hour. Janowicz put up more resistance in the decider, but the key break came in the third game and he was able to hold serve for the win.
