David Ferrer has progressed to the Barcelona Open final after beating Milos Raonic in straight sets.

Ferrer was the favourite going into the match, having been named third seed for the tournament, but knew he was up against a tough opponent in Raonic, who had dispatched of world number four Andy Murray in the quarter-finals.

While Ferrer can now look back on a straight-sets victory, it was by no means an easy win, with both sets going to a tie-break.

A very close first set was ended by the Spaniard winning 7-2 in the tie-break, while the similarly hard-fought second had the same outcome, putting Ferrer into the final.

The final will be an all-Spanish affair as Rafael Nadal comes up against Fernando Verdasco later today.
