Petra Kvitova has secured her place in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open after wrapping up a 6-4 6-3 victory over Lucie Safarova.
The Czech pro fought back strongly to take the first set after she had initially lost two breaks of serve to go 4-0 down.
She went on to break her compatriot in the second, giving her a two-game lead and allowing her to wind up a comfortable victory.
Kvitova will play Serena Williams in the next round after the American saw off Carla-Suarez Navarro.
