Rafael Nadal continued his positive form at the Barcelona Open in recent years by claiming the title at the expense of Nicolas Almagro this afternoon.
There was very little to split the two Spaniards, with Nadal coming out on top thanks to a 6-4 6-3 success.
Almagro actually went 3-0 up in the first set courtesy of a double break. However, Nadal broke back at the next time of asking and went on to concede just one more game on his way to taking a one-set lead.
The second set proved to be more straightforward for Nadal, who required just one break of Almagro's serve to win the match in one hour and 32 minutes.
It is the eighth time that Nadal has emerged victorious in the tournament.
