Bernard Tomic has reached the semi-finals of the Sydney International by securing a 6-4 6-3 victory over Alexandr Dolgopolov.
The 21-year-old won three break points to help push him on top in the first set, while Dolgopolov tried to rely on his serve by scoring five aces.
Despite Tomic allowing his opponent to remain in the game by committing a double fault, the Australian was able to hold firm on his service games to take the one-set lead.
Tomic stepped up his game in the second set by staying strong on serve, while Dolgopolov initially failed to get close to a break point.
The 25-year-old scuppered his only chance to break Tomic in the second set, but the Australian was able to see out his game and eventually wrap up the match.
