Heather Watson has failed to record a second victory on Thursday after losing in three sets to Johanna Larsson in the quarter-finals of the Hobart International.
The British number two was the defending champion at the Australian event but rain on Wednesday resulted in her last-16 clash with Monica Niculescu being held over for another 24 hours with the score locked at one set apiece.
Watson eventually edged out the fourth seed in a final-set tie-break, but after taking to court again just a couple of hours later, she could not extend her participation in the tournament.
The Guernsey hitter took the opening set but Larsson fought back to see off the 23-year-old by a 3-6 6-4 6-4 scoreline in a match that ended at 2am.
Watson will now head to Melbourne for the Australian Open where she will hope to record her first victory at the Grand Slam event in three years.
