Tomas Berdych has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters with a three-set victory over Sam Querrey.
The Czech appeared to be coasting after a comfortable opening set but Querrey fought back to ensure that Berdych had to dig deep to secure a 6-2 6-7 6-4 win.
Berdych surrendered only six points on his serve in the opening set as he breezed into a one-set lead.
However, Querrey matched his opponent in the second and he won a tie-break 7-3 to set up a final-set showdown.
The American's serve let him down in the decider and Berdych capitalised with a break of serve and that was ultimately enough as he served out the win to set up a last-eight match with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
