Roger Federer has stormed through to the final of the Shanghai Masters after producing a fine display to dispatch Novak Djokovic.
In the 36th meeting between the two, the Swiss was clinical at the net and that part of his game helped him record a 6-4 6-4 victory against the world number one.
Federer looked the sharper of the two in the opening set and, after finding success on both of Djokovic's first and second serves, one break was enough to move closer to the final.
The 33-year-old also struck at the start of the second, and although he squandered chances for the double-break, he wasn't required to save any break points of his own which enabled him to serve out the match.
Federer will now play Gilles Simon in Sunday's final after the Frenchman beat Feliciano Lopez earlier in the day.
