Rafael Nadal has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters with a straight-sets victory over Milos Raonic.
The Spaniard, seeded eighth at this year's tournament, was out of the blocks quickly with a break at the first time of asking and that was all he needed to claim the opener 6-3.
Both men had to save break points at the start of the second, but the rest of the set went by with little incident as the duo confidently held serve.
A tie-break was required, and it was Raonic, who won the pair's other meeting this year in Indian Wells, that lost his serve early to fall 3-0 behind.
Nadal remained cool behind his serve and secured another mini-break on his way to a 7-3 success in the breaker.
He will be up against fourth seed Stanislas Wawrinka in the last eight.
