Milos Raonic has kept his Shanghai Masters hopes alive by seeing through a tough battle with Marinko Matosevic 7-6(4) 6-3.

Both competitors were well matched in the opening set and continued to hold their serve well, which forced the set into a tie-break.

Despite pushing Raonic all the way, Matosevic stumbled in the decider and could only get four points on the board and relinquish the chance of taking a set lead.

The blow to Matosevic proved damaging in the second set as Raonic broke his competitor at the first time of asking and continued to keep up his dominance on the court to claim a place in the next round.
