Tomas Berdych has set up a Shanghai Masters quarter-final against Andy Murray by sweeping aside Gilles Simon 6-3 6-3 in the third round.
In the first meeting between the pair since Simon eased to victory at Wimbledon in July, Berdych needed less than an hour-and-a-half to advance past the third round.
The Czech, seeded fifth at the tournament, was first to break in the fourth game, but Simon was back on level terms instantly as Berdych failed to consolidate the advantage.
Berdych broke again in the eighth game and then came through a mammoth service game, winning the opener 6-3 on his sixth set point.
The second set was the same scoreline but more comfortable for Berdych as he broke in the first game before doing so again in the ninth to claim victory.
Berdych will face Murray in the last eight after the third seed fought back from a set down to beat John Isner earlier today.
