Richard Gasquet has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Swiss Indoors championship after defeating Dominic Thiem 7-6 6-4 in Basel.
The Frenchman was taken to a tie-break, which proved a tense affair against the zestful Thiem, but ultimately came off best to seal the first set.
Gasquet then took the momentum and went on to clinch the second set 6-4 to knock his Austrian opponent out of the competition.
The 29-year-old will meet Croatian Ivo Karlovic in the last eight of the tournament.
