Edouard Roger-Vasselin has booked his spot in the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors Basel tournament with a 6-3 4-6 6-3 win over Daniel Brands this afternoon.
Roger-Vasselin took control of the match early on when he broke Brands in the third game of the first set. He then held serve and broke the German once more in the final game to secure the set 6-3.
Brands hit back in the second, breaking the world number 65 in the very first game before successfully holding his serve to see out the set 6-4.
However, it was the Frenchman who secured a surprise passage into the final four when he triumphed in the crucial third, holding his serve throughout and breaking Brands in the sixth game to win the set 6-3.
Roger-Vasselin will now face either top seed Juan Martin del Potro or Paul-Henri Mathieu for a place in the final.
