Roger Federer has advanced to the third round of the Olympics with a comfortable 6-2 6-2 victory over Julien Benneateau at the All England Club.
The Swiss wrapped up victory in just over an hour at the same venue at which he won his seventh Wimbledon title last month.
Benneateau rarely threatened Federer's serve, which was at its imperious best at times during the first set, which he took in half-an-hour.
The second set victory was equally convincing for Federer, who will face either Gilles Muller or Denis Istomin in the third round.
Federer is looking to add an Olympic gold medal to his tally of 17 Grand Slam titles.
