Team GB's Kyle Edmund has been knocked out of the Olympics after losing his second-round clash to Japan's Taro Daniel in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.
The Davis Cup winner was beaten 6-4 7-5 by Daniel, who has never progressed past the second round in a major tournament.
It was a positive start from the Brit as he went an early break up, but Daniel bounced back to break twice and give himself a one-set lead in 44 minutes.
Edmund tried to recover by saving two break points in the second set and immediately snatched serve, but Daniel answered the threat and managed to wrap up the set in just less than an hour.
Britain's sole hope in the men's singles is with Andy Murray, who will face Juan Monaco in the second round.
