British number one Andy Murray has revealed that he lost a large part of one of his toenails during his epic US Open final win over Novak Djokovic.
The pair were on court for four hours and 54 minutes before the Scot eventually prevailed 7-6 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2.
After the match, Murray told Sky Sports News: "It was physically demanding and mentally very tough. I pretty much lost one of my toenails in the last game."
Murray is the first man to win the US Open and an Olympic singles gold medal in the same year.
