Victoria Azarenka has revealed that she was elated with her display in her win over Angelique Kerber in the third round of the US Open.
The two-time finalist was 5-2 in the first set, but rallied to take it 7-5. However, the number 11 seed came back strongly to secure a 6-2 victory in the second set.
Azarenka managed to produce her best tennis at the vital moments and secured a break, and almost won the match with a second, although Kerber fended off five match points before the number 20 seed served out for the match.
She told ESPN: "This is one of the most enjoyable moments you can possibly have. To fight in such a great match against such a competitor as Angelique and come out with a win is a bonus.
"I enjoyed the hustle and chasing down every ball and hitting winners, it was amazing.
"To play so close in a fight and not lose faith in myself, to keep battling through. I live for these moments and to be able to go through into the next round is the best I can ask for."
Azarenka will face Varvara Lepchenko in the next round of the competition.
