Rafael Nadal's coach and uncle, Toni, has insisted that the world number four will be back stronger for the US Open.
The Spaniard suffered a shock first-round exit at Wimbledon, having returned from injury to win the French Open earlier in the year.
His coach has admitted that he will take a break from tennis but will come back in better shape ahead of the final Grand Slam of the year.
"Rafa will come back," Toni Nadal told reporters. "He has no fear of this break, he has nothing more to lose.
"Currently Rafa is doing physical training, but no court workouts. The break is important, he has played enough."
Nadal will return to competitive action in the Rogers Cup next month before the US Open, which begins on August 26.
