Roger Federer has claimed that he was able to find a way to handle John Isner's serves and avoid losing his own in his fourth-round victory over the American at the US Open.
The five-time champion managed to seal a 7-6[0] 7-6[6] 7-5 victory over his 6ft 10in opponent at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
Prior to this match, Isner had recorded 110 consecutive service wins, but Federer called an end to that run by breaking the American to win the match.
"Obviously, John has one of the best serves in the game," Federer said on court after the match. "The pace on his second serve is unreal. You've just got to hang around and not lose your serve. I guess that was a key to the match."
Federer did not drop serve throughout the entire encounter.
