Johanna Konta has conceded that she was beaten by the better player in her fourth-round exit at the US Open at the hands of Petra Kvitova.
The 24-year-old's run in the competition was ended when she lost in straight sets to the two-time Wimbledon champion as the Brit struggled to win the big points against the number five seed.
She told reporters: "It's obviously not the result I wanted it would have been nice to keep the run I had here going.
"I played again an incredibly tough player today she doesn't let you get into a rhythm and she doesn't let you take control of a point.
"It was really difficult for me out there, but I had an amazing time out there on Arthur Ashe. It was a childhood dream come true and it was very special, and now I get the chance to recover and move on."
The run to the fourth round was Konta's best performance in a Grand Slam in her career.
