British number one Andy Murray hints that he will keep tournament appearances down to a minimum during the final two-and-a-half months of the season.

Andy Murray has suggested that he will adopt a lighter schedule for the rest of 2015 after the Davis Cup semi-final with Australia.

On Monday night, Murray bowed out of the US Open after losing to Kevin Anderson in four sets. As he begins to look forward to the last-four showdown in Glasgow, the world number three has hinted that he will keep appearances down to a minimum ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals.

The 28-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I've done my best in all the tournaments I've played this year.

"We've had a great run in Davis Cup and that was a huge priority this year, and now being in the semi-finals it's a great opportunity for us.

"I have played a lot and when Davis Cup is done, I won't play much after it through to the end of the year."

Last season, Murray played 84 matches - 79 singles and five doubles - but despite two-and-a-half months of the current campaign still remaining, the Scot has already featured in 79 contests, 69 of which have come in singles competition.
