Maria Sharapova believes that she has had a successful year despite her failure to reach the final of the US Open.
The Russian tennis star lost her semi-final clash with world number one Victoria Azarenka 3-6 6-2 6-4 on Friday.
"I'll take the results I had this year," the 25-year-old is quoted as saying by Reuters.
"When I do think about it, I'm so lucky that I get to play this sport, that I love playing it still, and that I feel like I have a lot in me.
"I'm number three in the world right now and was back at number one, winning grand slams again, so it's certainly a great feeling."
Sharapova won the French Open this year and also reached the final of the Australian Open.
