Seventh seed Eugenie Bouchard secured her place in the fourth round of the US Open with victory Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in three sets on Sunday.
The 20-year-old began the match in confident fashion and managed to earn three breaks of serve to take the first set 6-2.
Strycova fought back in the second to keep her tournament hopes alive as each player secured two breaks to take it into a tie-breaker and the 28-year-old Czech managed to take the match into a decider with a 7-2 victory.
Bouchard responded to the pressure from her opponent and put herself in a match-winning position with a break, but Strycova hit back immediately to tie the scores at 4-4.
However, the 20-year-old Canadian upped her game in the final stages to earn a three-set win, and she will now play 17th seed Ekaterian Makarova in the fourth round of the tournament.
