Tommy Haas has comfortably dealt with Paul-Henri Mathieu to reach the second round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.
The German 12th seed took just 92 minutes to wrap up a 6-4 6-4 6-1 victory on court 17.
Haas looked in supreme form and was never troubled by his French opponent, who at least competed in the first two sets.
However, with the match quickly slipping away he effectively threw in the towel, allowing Haas to dominate the final set.
He will play Lu Yen-Hsun, who defeated Daniel Gimeno-Traver in straight sets, in the next round.
