Eighth seed Ana Ivanovic has booked her place in the second round of the US Open by seeing off home favourite Alison Riske in straight sets.
The Serb needed just over an hour to advance, but it didn't begin easily.
Riske, who made it to round four at Flushing Meadows last year, broke Ivanovic in the first game but then failed to hold her serve on three straight occasions as Ivanovic took a commanding 5-1 lead in the opener.
Riske won the next two games to close the gap to 5-3, but Ivanovic then reeled off seven games in a row to clinch the match 6-3 6-0.
She will next take on Karolina Pliskova in the second round on Thursday.
