Petra Kvitova spent just 55 minutes on court on Tuesday night as she booked her spot in the second round of the US Open with a 6-1 6-0 victory over Kristina Mladenovic.
The pressure was immediately piled on Mladenovic's shoulders, with the 21-year-old unable to prevent her rival from securing a break in her first service game.
Kvitova would remain in charge for the remainder of the match, and broke Mladenovic once more in the sixth game on her way to a triumph in the opening set.
The Wimbledon champion stepped up her performance in the second set as she broke Mladenovic in each of her three service games, while rarely looking troubled on her own serve as she cruised through in comfortable fashion.
