Li Na has booked her spot in the second round of the US Open courtesy of a 6-2 6-2 victory over Olga Govortsova.
The Chinese took control in the early stages of the opening set, securing back-to-back breaks before holding to move 4-0 ahead.
Govortsova did manage to secure successive holds in the latter stages, but Li continued to serve well as the 31-year-old claimed the first set.
It was a similar story in the second, with Li breaking before holding to move 2-0 ahead. Govortsova did manage to hold her next two serves, but another break at 4-2 allowed Li to serve for a spot in the next round.
