Rafael Nadal has remained on course for his second US Open title by crushing quarter-final opponent Tommy Robredo in three sets at Flushing Meadows.
The 27-year-old Spaniard was relentless on Arthur Ashe, wrapping up the first set without dropping a game in the space of just 22 minutes.
Robredo has never beaten the world number two and will have had that familiar feeling as Nadal broke once again in the first game of the second set.
The 31-year-old finally got a game on the board at 2-1 but the only saving grace was that it ruled out a complete whitewash.
Nadal - looking to add to his 2010 title in New York - went on to seal the next two sets 6-2 with little fuss, setting up a semi-final clash with France's Richard Gasquet.
