Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has beaten Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets to progress to round two of the US Open.
The 21-year-old Russian, who was a quarter finalist at Flushing Meadows last year, claimed a topsy-turvy opening set 6-4.
Despite Hantuchova having served for the second set at 5-3, Pavlyuchenkova battled back to force a tie-break, which she emphatically won 7-1.
Pavlyuchenkova will now face either Kristina Mladenovic of France or New Zealand's Marina Erakovic in the next round.
