Shuai Peng has defeated number 14 seed Lucie Safarova in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals of the US Open.
The 28-year-old limited her mistakes in the first set as Safarova struggled, recording a 6-3 victory after earning one crucial break of serve.
Peng was again efficient in the second in a tight contest as she produced just enough quality to take the set 6-4 to reach her first ever Grand Slam quarter-final.
She will now face the winner of the clash between Jelena Jankovic and Belinda Bencic in the last eight of the competition.
