British qualifier Dan Evans has caused a huge upset in the first round of the US Open by beating 11th seed Kei Nishikori in straight sets.
The world number 179 came from a break down to take the opening set 6-4 before clinching the second with the same scoreline.
The 23-year-old, who had previously never got past the opening round of a Grand Slam, then secured his progress by sealing the shock victory 6-2.
Evans will now meet either Spain's Albert Ramos or Australian Bernard Tomic for the place in round three.
