Serena Williams has won her 18th Grand Slam title by beating Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 6-3 in the US Open final.
It was another dominant display from the top seed in New York as she recorded victory in the tournament for the sixth time.
Despite the one-sided nature of the final scoreline, there was some nervy moments for the Williams in a thrilling first set.
After holding in the first game, there were then five successive breaks of serve, and it would be the final break which handed the advantage to Williams.
Wozniacki's confidence was clearly dented, and she was powerless to prevent her rival from serving out for the lead.
Hopes of a comeback were reduced in the opening game of the second set as Wozniacki gifted further momentum to Williams by losing her serve again.
The set would go with serve until the ninth game as Wozniacki, still searching for her maiden Grand Slam success, battled admirably to stay in the match.
However, there would be no dramatic twist as Williams broke again, and a long backhand from Wozniacki added another chapter to the American's success story.
