World number four Serena Williams booked her place in the quarter-finals of the US Open at the expense of Andrea Hlavackova this evening.
The 30-year-old achieved the feat without dropping a single game against her opponent from the Czech Republic.
Williams took control of the encounter early on and from that point never looked like being troubled by Hlavackova.
The 26-year-old's best chance to win a game came during the last two of the match, but on both occasions Williams fought back to save game point.
She will now take on Ana Ivanovic for a place in the semi-finals.
