Eugenie Bouchard has revealed that she will be taking time out of the game following her defeat in the first round of Wimbledon.
The 21-year-old sustained an abdominal injury last week while playing at Eastbourne and struggled to battle through the problem in her loss to Duan Ying-Ying.
Bouchard has admitted that she is considering taking time out of the game to recover from the injury and to get over her poor run of form.
"I felt very unprepared for this match but I wanted to play no matter what. After Eastbourne we did testing and I've got a grade two tear in my abs," Bouchard told reporters.
"It was probably not smart to play here but I couldn't pass on Wimbledon. I'm going to take some time to heal and maybe not think about tennis for a little bit and then get back to it."
Bouchard has lost 12 out of her last 14 matches.
