Richard Gasquet: 'Novak Djokovic too tough to beat'

Richard Gasquet insists that Novak Djokovic's strong service game was the key to coming out on top in today's Wimbledon semi-final showdown.

Richard Gasquet has conceded that he simply was not good enough to overcome Novak Djokovic in this afternoon's Wimbledon semi-final.

The Frenchman was beaten in straight sets by the defending champion to see his SW19 campaign come to an end.

Having pushed his opponent all the way in a tight first set, Gasquet was unable to maintain the pressure and was soon brushed aside by the Serb.

Speaking to reporters after his exit, the 29-year-old said: "The key was he serves better than me and returns better than me. When you have these two shots on a grass court, it makes the difference.

"His return is the best because he never misses. You all the time serve, you serve. The ball is always on your side again. It's very difficult.

"You never make many aces. He doesn't make unforced errors. Even from the baseline, he's playing fast with a lot of aggressiveness. He takes the ball early. That's why it's tough."

Gasquet has now lost 12 times in his past 13 meetings against Djokovic.
