Marion Bartoli has comfortably beaten Elina Svitolina 6-3 7-5 to secure a place in the second round at Wimbledon.
The 15th seed needed just 30 minutes to clinch the opening set, breaking her Ukrainian opponent early on, with Svitolina struggling to get her serves in.
Svitolina cut out the errors in the second set and provided more of a challenge for the Frenchwoman, but Bartoli was able to create a threat from the net with a series of well-executed volleys that helped her to win a break.
Bartoli was unable to consolidate the break at first, making numerous unforced errors, but she got another chance against the Svitolina serve in the next game before serving out the match.
Bartoli will face American Christina McHale in the next round.
