Johanna Konta has suffered a straight-sets defeat to Dominika Cibulkova in the second round at Wimbledon.
The British number one reached the semi-finals at SW19 last year, but Cibulkova impressed as she registered a 6-3 6-4 victory on Centre Court.
Konta had been hoping to register her strongest Grand Slam showing since her last-four appearance at SW19 12 months ago, but she was outplayed by the former world number four.
Cibulkova broke twice to move to the brink of victory and although Konta saved four match points to make her opponent serve out the contest, the Slovakian held to love to prevail in 78 minutes.
Konta will now drop outside of the world's top 40, although the 27-year-old has minimal ranking points to defend during the rest of the year.
