Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic has cruised into the second round at this year's event with a 6-3 6-0 win over compatriot Andrea Hlavackova this afternoon.
Hlavackova forced the world number six to face a break point early on, but the 2011 champion managed to win the game before forcing an error from her opponent in the next game to go a break up.
Kvitova served consistently throughout the second set, while her opponent struggled to win points during her own games, allowing the 24-year-old to break her in the first game.
Hlavackova made few mistakes, but struggled to match Kvitova's pace around the court as she fired numerous winners past the world number 117, wrapping up the set without her opponent getting on the board.
The sixth seed will face Germany's Mona Barthel in the second round.
